5.0 out of 5 stars Strong case, October 11, 2010

This review is from: Laptop Case with Foam: 17.25" x 21.63" x 4.75" (Personal Computers)
Great product. I took my 17in Alienware to Afghanistan in it and didn't have a problem with it. The case was in my Stryker when we had a roll over and my laptop was fine. With stood a year of dust, dirt, and high temps without issue. I used it as a stool at times and never scratched my laptop. There ARE issues though on the civilian side. The case weighs 11 lbs or so, then you have to add the weight of whatever you put in it, my laptop weighs 13 lbs, so you can see it's heavy. Next, it's pretty much too big to carry on a plane, it doesn't fit in most over head bins and it does not fit well under the seats in front on you. I ended up putting mine on the floor and then resting my feet ontop of it. Realise the deminsions and the weight. Short of that mine survived an IED blast so I think you'll be safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect, June 17, 2007
This review is from: Laptop Case with Foam: 17.25" x 21.63" x 4.75" (Personal Computers)
This case Fits a 17" monitor. Since I have a 15inch I have room for a spare battery, travel mouse and small periferals. Secure and crushproof. I can stand my 200lb self on the lid and it only bows 1/4 of an inch. Haven't had the guts to try it with a two tonne truck......

My ONLY gripe, and the reason I bought a slightly less pretty case from the same company is that in one dimension it won't make all airline travel space restrictions.

Accept no substitutes. Or "How much is YOUR data worth?"

Although it was a little bigger than I realized, it worked out perfect for me as I could also place other accessaries such as a camera and charger in the case. I'm in the military and when I go on a deployment I need a case that can be packed and tossed at a moments notice. The Pelican laptop case is nothing but proven durability.

This bag is perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted something that had enough pockets, dividers, etc to carry my small dslr and a few lenses and batteries with room for some cleaning supplies, etc. Below is a list of what I fit into this bag and it's pretty full. The bag is nice looking, the straps and connectors are sturdy and stay closed. The bag has soft internal dividers with velcro that you can adjust to fit your equipment. There's a netted zip pocket in the lid that you can see the contents of and a front zip pocket that has pockets for pens, paper, etc. The strap is fairly thick and the shoulder pad is soft and wide. The metal Nikon badge on the front looks nice and hasn't tarnished. The padding of the bag is suitable for a bit of knocking around without worry of damaging the contents. Great bag!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nikon 5874 Digital SLR Camera Case, March 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Nikon 5874 Deluxe Digital SLR Camera Case - Gadget Bag (Electronics)
First, I would like to say that Nikon makes durable, accomodating Gadget bags. I have used 4-5 down through the past 20 or so years and I have never had any product failures. In the case of this most recent purchase, I found the case to be too small to accomodate all my gear. The pictures shown in the ad give one the impression of more space and compartments to work with. Sadly this isn't the case and I barely have room for my D7000 with 18-105 on body and the SB900 has to take a very unnatural position in one of the lens compartments. I should have done better research. So, ultimately the blame falls on my shoulder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect sized bag for d40 + 2 lenses + accessories, September 9, 2008
By
This review is from: Nikon 5874 Deluxe Digital SLR Camera Case - Gadget Bag (Electronics)
Perfect bag for an entry level slr and small-size lenses. I was impressed by the size (not too big/not too small). I was able to nicely fit in the D40 body, 18-55mm kit lens, 55-200mm VR and then some more for charger, battery, hood. Decent cushioning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, Quality Backpack, April 13, 2010
By
This review is from: Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
If you're looking at the Lowepro SlingShot camera bags for the first time, I will start by telling you a bit about how they are meant to be worn. This is a backpack with a single shoulder strap. The strap sits on your right shoulder, diagonally crosses the front of your body, and attaches to the bag again at your left side. The idea is that you can "sling" (pull) the bag around from your back to your front without ever having to take it off. The bag is designed in such a way that when you do this, the side of the bag becomes the top, and the main compartment and zippers are facing you for quick access to you gear. Because of the single "across the body" strap design, the backpack will never sit perfectly straight on your back, rather at a slight angle. To compensate this, there is a padded waist belt, which helps straighten the pack and distribute the load.

The 302AW is divided into two sections; the main compartment (measuring 11.4w x 5.9d x 10.6h") being for your... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A well made, large, useful bag., February 10, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW (Electronics)
First, a bit about myself: I am a semi-professional photographer who does a variety of work with my cameras, including things like motorsports, which require me to be walking around long hours with my gear and to access that gear in locations where I often don't have a place to put my bag down on a safe surface to take things in and out of it or swap lenses or the like.

Because of these needs, the Slingshot series of bags appealed to me. For those unfamiliar with them, they have a unique design - they're a sling, which means that there is one shoulder strap. When you put the bag on your shoulder, it will hang at a canted angle across your back. Then, if you need to access your gear, you reach behind you and slide the bag around under your left arm so it comes to rest sitting across your belly. When you do this, it sits at a perfect horizontal angle, and there is a flap opening on what is now the "top" (the side, when it's on your back) of the bag. Unzipping the flap gives... Read more

This review is from: Lowepro SlingShot 302 AW (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
A hefty slingbag, the 302AW is feature-filled, but clumsy to wear.

Lowepro has been making camera bags for many years, so I anticipated the many activity-specific innovations: the built-in microfiber cloth, the tab-pockets for memory cards, the rain-proof cover, the adjustable dividers in the main body, the tuck-away pockets, low-profile tripod straps, and the rugged nylon construction.

What I was surprised by was how awkward this sling design is to wear. The bag is designed to go one way (over the right shoulder, rotating around to the left of the body). With just the sling strap, I couldn't find a comfortable place to seat the bag on my average-to-athletic male torso.

To keep the bag at a good spot on my back, the strap across my chest had to be too tight (uncomfortable, looks awkward, and can't slide it around easily). If the strap was at a good looseness for sliding the bag around, then the bag skewed off to the side of my back (bumping into... Read more
